Hi I’m Salpie, wife, mommy, and founder & designer of House of Mark. I love fashion and all things pretty. I am a perfectionist, night owl and a lover of coffee and sweets. I live in Los Angeles, California with my wonderful husband, our handsome son, and our German Shepherd and English Labrador.
Launched in 2013, House of Mark is an upscale decor atelier based in Los Angeles and best known as the home of the original yarn, macramé and embroidery tassel garlands. My collections have expanded offering a selection of fabulous decor, accessories, gifts, and many more. I continue to strive to bring joy and fun into your life, home and events through our custom & one-of-a-kind collections. I am very humbled to have the opportunity to be able to do what I love for a living. Each order that leaves the studio is handmade with care, love, and perfection.
Designing and event styling all began when I got engaged to my husband. I began creating handmade decor when I could not find what I was looking for elsewhere. I could imagine the look I was going for in my head but could not find anything close to it anywhere. I searched far and wide, however, I grew tired with all the running around with no results. Almost nothing was available in custom work, so I decided to reach within my talents to produce my vision.
I come from an artistic background (makeup artist and a lover of art), which only makes it natural for me to bring my visions to life creatively and colorfully. For my engagement party, I began designing the table numbers, invitations, place cards, backdrops, centerpieces, favors, just to name a few. The feedback from friends and family was overwhelming. They loved the creativity and originality of the pieces I created. Designing for all these special events in my life really helped me come to realization that I could share my work with others.
When our son was born in 2012, I could not wait to plan for his first birthday. The theme was going to be Vintage Carnival and I knew I wanted to go all out and BIG with his first birthday. So, I began creating everything from scratch months before his party - carnival games, birthday hats, backdrops, paper rosettes, not to mention the homemade carnival style food and dessert table. It was so perfect that I took the plunge - I began designing, perfecting and finalizing all the details in preparation for opening my online shop to the world.
I started slow, with baby steps. Slowly, but surely, things picked up. Orders became more and more customized and to each person's liking, and this continues to be the case today and always - offering custom and personalized pieces to be a part of that special moment. At House of Mark, I only create pieces that I am proud to display at my own home and events, in the most fashion forward sense. You'll always see the original designs here first.
My pieces have been featured by Editorial by Tori Spelling, The Petite Party List, 100 Layer Cake, Bash Please, The Cream Event, Green Wedding Shoes, and many more. I also work closely with many interior designers as well as event coordinators on creating custom pieces for their clients’ homes and events.
